A Rush Of Love and Warmth
The Decoy Bride by Allison West while a historical novel has a plot line. We found unique in our readings. We don’t want to spoil it for you and will not divulge that content. Violet is not an enthusiastic decoy bride, so Myrtle helps her decide with her paddle. The story is expertly crafted and quickly moves along.
FYI, note there is a reluctant sex scene. However, in the end her behind is cared for with kindness. For me and my husband’s taste there simply was not enough spanking or sex for a book. My husband thought the paddling was well described. However, there is rush of love and warmth one feels as the main characters evolve to husband and wife. They are bound together and have a bright future, although I’m sure Violet will carry a bright bottom as they live as man and wife! We give The Decoy Bride a four star rating and worthy of your time.
I had a hard time getting into this book. It wasn't the story I was expecting and it was hard for me to follow. There is a lot action in the story and that did keep some part interesting. It did have a good ending. 3 stars
For a really unique, interesting and exciting historical storyline you are going to want to read this new book from Allison West. It is the story of two innocents (Violet and Francis) in Victorian times who are cast into rolls neither were equipped for, or fully understood going in. Violet is sold into being the decoy bride for Myrtle and Francis, unbeknownst to Violet, is hired by her “guardian” to protect her on her journey. In the resultant travels and tribulations, this very different and exciting story line (one I challenge you to find elsewhere) is revealed. Once started, you will find it very hard to put down! I give it four stars, but with a bit more spanking and/or sex it would have been 5. Perhaps in a sequel? ? ?
Good storyline, different than most which I enjoyed. It took me awhole to get into the story but once I did it was an enjoyable read.
This story not only has great writing and hot spanking and sex, the spankings are not your usual and the plot is profoundly unique.
This is the story of a young orphan named Violet whose guardian hires her out as a decoy bride. Then he hires Francis to protect her and keep her safe. They are captured and forced to run from the men hunting Violet. Violet is very spirited and does well defending herself. I enjoyed the teamwork between the pair and the way Francis always put Violets well being ahead of his own. This is an interesting story line with a bit of a different twist. Good read.
A different kind of story set in historical times. It is not centered on the bride but on Violet Adams who is delegated as a decoy to travel to the wedding in replacement to attract any would-be kidnappers along the way for the original bride's dowry and lands as she makes her way through the notorious New Forest. But Violet's caretaker has hired a type of bodyguard to see she comes to no harm. And so the adventures begin when he tries to save her from all the cruelties that come from kidnapping, another hunt-the-virgin and a follow through of love, and discipline as they seek to stay together and return home.
This is a book you won't want to put down. The compelling plot is set in a unique fictitious historical world in which decoy brides are common. The characters, heroic and villainous alike were brought to life in a well-written story with twists at every turn. The devotion Francis showed for Violet was heartwarming and I loved their characters. The plot was clever and completely unpredictable. There was some violence necessary to keep the story believable, but I don't mind if a villain gets what he deserves. The ending was unexpected but I loved it. Put this book in the must read category.
A wonderful different storyline with a page turning adventure with a young couple fleeing in life and death situations. There is danger, violence, suspense, mystery, vileness of evil characters, sex and spanking. This is an intense story that I couldn't put down until the finish.
A full story, there is adventure, fear, some spankings, some sex, violence. The characters are well written. Some of the scenes are vivid. It is a very different story. It is not a sweet love story but it is a love story because of Francis's devotion to Violet. Well worth the read.
This was certainly an original storyline. Violet's life was somewhat dismal with no Prince Charming coming to rescue her. Francis had his own struggles but he was determined to help Violet. It was gritty and there were some failures along the way but his desire to have and save Violet never wavered. Well written.
The plot of this story is fascinating and the scenes playing out are intense. It isn’t a pretty picture, including kill or be killed situations. The characters are well developed and the plot twist, unlike any other story I’ve read. When Francis tells Violet, “I will fight to my death to protect you,” they are not just words, he backs it with action. I think the hero and heroine are both clever and because of being thrust into this unusual situation, it adds to the passion. Every girl needs a man like Francis that doesn’t just talk the talk, he puts action into his words, feelings and makes it physical. Warning, this story does contain graphic violence, attempted rape and detailed sex scenes.
I have read a few of the joint ventures written by this author, but this was my first time reading a book written exclusively by her. I have definitely found a new author to follow. This was a really well written, very dramatic story that was next to impossible to put down.
