This short but well written story centres on the relationship between Letticia and Everett. It is set in the 1920’s and initially, Letticia has designs on another man. Everett sets about convincing her that he is the only man for her. There are spankings for Letticia who is immature and spoilt and also plenty of beautifully written sex scenes. I found this story to be an interesting detour from this author’s usual style and would certainly recommend it. The publishers sent me this book as an ARC for an honest review.
Love Comes Before We Realize It At Times
Another excellent book by author Carolyn Faulkner. Carolyn Faulkner's books are always enjoyable, but this book has a different twist about it. I truly enjoyed this historical tale of Lady Letticia Burke and Lord Everett Brenham. One sided love is always heartbreaking but sometimes with a never quit attitude you can end up with a diabolical ending. Lots of love, patience and discipline. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in the genre.
I absolutely loved this story. It was short, but amazingly sweet and well developed for a short story. I had a very hard time getting passed the point of view being written in second person. I felt it made it a little awkward and confusing, which is the only thing that kept this from a 5 star review. The story made up for it, however. Great read!
I own about 90% of Caroline Faulkner's Kindle books, and A Heart Full of Heaven has moved to the top of my favorites list. The story grabbed my attention from the very first page and I couldn't wait to read it all the way through. Everett has fallen in love at first sight with the beautiful, but young Letticia. Unfortunately she only has eyes for another. Everett hopes to show her how great, true love can be. However, his love for her does not mean he will put up with her poor behavior without consequences. This is a lighthearted book with light physical punishments, and I cannot recommend it enough!
Lady Letticia Burke has finally accepted the marriage proposal of Lord Everett Brenham after her love for Sir Alex is not returned. Not only is it not returned, but he is a married man and does not know she exists. Lord Everett has waited in the wings to swoop down on Lady Letticia as her family find themselves in financial difficulties. His dominance in their relationship is both tender-hearted and strict. His discipline and guidance makes both combatants find a common ground as he tames her bratty ways and they find love together. Even though Lady Letticia has a chance encounter with Sir Alex which does not go well, she finds her husband has stolen her heart by his masterly ways.
An absolutely terrific read! I lost a little part of my heart to the main hero, Everett! I found him to be a strong man that believed in disciplining when needed but incredibly romantic and caring. I found Letticia to sometimes be selfish and immature – but for the most part a lady that I would love to call a friend. I loved the interaction between these two characters because it felt real and natural. I do not want to give away the ending of the story – but know that I was routing for this couple throughout the book and could not wait to find out what was going to happen! I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that has been reading spanking stories for years or someone just starting out.
Short, sweet and sassy….
I think I’ve read everything this author has written and each time a new book comes out I’m stalking the shelves waiting for it. While the theme is the same – with an alpha male not adverse to a bit of corporal punishment to keep his love safe – each outing offers something unique. This time was no exception as Lady Letticia Burke and Sir Alex Gaines were at constant at loggerheads in this quick, but satisfying read.
While I found the use of Letticia referring to herself as “you” rather off-putting, her relationship with Alex was anything but. Love was in short supply in her life, but she was still shocked to find herself without a lot of options when Alex comes courting. With humour and sarcasm, she hoped to escape her fate but Alex was not going to let her go and her family was fully supportive.. of him.
The back and forth between Letticia and Alex was that interesting paradox of formality on the surface and burning sheets behind closed doors. And bottoms, of course. Their conversations were biting and funny yet endearing as well as love truly did creep in through the angry cracks.
Ms. Faulkner has done it again, this time with a truly wonderful, sweet, historical romance. Don't get me wrong though, there is quite a bit of steam. The journey that Everett and Letticia embark on, given her reluctance, is not an easy one to be sure, but what a ride! Whew!! So very good, don't miss it!
I loved this. For Everett it was love at first sight. He adored Letty. But not for Letty. Everett knew and accepted this but it still hurt and pained him. This is a story of how Letty came to love her husband and realise what a wonderful man she had married, and it was sweet.
I enjoyed this 1920s romance and as a fan of Carolyn Faulkner, this story reads quite a bit differently, more of a POV of the heroine, Lady Letticia Burke. Letticia has lived carefree, turning down every suitor and pining after one, Sir Alex Gaines, who never pays her attention. Lord Everett Brenham has had strong feelings for Letticia for many years, and he is determined she will be his wife. Nearly twenty-one and she finds herself to be engaged to Everett and is unhappy about the situation, but agrees to it for the sake of her father.
The plot brings two people together, the Hero in love with her and not receiving her love back. Everett is a patient man and shows Letticia that he can give her discipline and passion. The dialog is a combination of first person and some conversations. Letticia can be self-centered and bratty, but Everett proves to her that he will only tolerate so much. Will these two find a happy ground or become miserable in the process? There are plenty of spankings and one caning and the sex scenes are detailed.
Another wonderful book from the prolific Ms. Faulkner. This one is not nearly as dark and heavy as some of her books can be, but is relatively “light” on the discipline and “heavier” on the innocence and romance. It is a short story of a budding romance between a reluctant, extremely innocent, young debutante (Letticia) whom it would seem was unknowingly “offered for” when she was only 16. She had always had eyes for a certain young man (Sir Alex Gaines) but was now betrothed to an unknown and unwanted suiter, Lord Everett Brenham. This is their love story. Told in the refreshingly insightful second person narrative of Letticia’s thoughts, we follow the evolution of her transformation from unbelievable naivety (she knew nothing of her own sexuality nor of orgasms) of life’s realities through her awakening desires, and ultimately love, for Everett. This is a very sweet, romantic, story with great character development, wonderful discipline/erotic spankings, and steamy sex. An absolute MUST reading for the summer.
