This was a fun read with two young ladies who rob stagecoaches and give the money to a church that was damaged in a fire and needs repairs. She meets and is courted and marries a stern man who spanks her when she misbehaves, which is often. There are adventures, action, hints of danger, much humor, mystery, spanking and romance.
This is not just another Victorian era story of a “coming of age” innocent/naïve daughter being married off to an eligible bachelor of means. That plot line is woven in but an even deeper plot, one of highwaymen terrorizing the local main road, makes this story interesting and unique. That these highwaymen are in fact our heroine (Gabrielle) and her best friend (Keira) is the real plotline of this tale. How they do what they do, why they do what they do, and the difficulties this activity leads them into keep the story moving at a fast and enjoyable pace. Add into the mix that the man sworn to capture the highwaymen is our eligible bachelor (Nicholas Forrester) and we now have a well developed mystery/suspense. Included in this tale are all the elements that one comes to expect (and look for) in a book from Blushing Books. Romance, spankings and erotic sex are key elements of the book, and contribute to it earning the full four star rating given. A wonderful read, one that is sure to leave you fully satisfied.
I enjoyed this book. Lots of mischief, antics and spankings. Gabrielle and her friend Keira have been robbing the wealthy people on the road at night and giving the proceeds to the convent to rebuild the section destroyed by fire. Her father announced she had a suitor, Nicholas Forrester. She wanted nothing to do with him, so she pulled some naughty pranks, earning her trips over Nicholas's lap getting a red bottom. Eventually she realizes she loves him and they get married. Several months after they got married, Keira convinces Gabrielle to rob one more time. Unfortunately it was Nicholas they tried to rob resulting in sore red bottoms. They promised to never rob anyone again.
I enjoyed this book. Lots of mischief, antics and spankings. Gabrielle and her friend Keira have been robbing the wealthy people on the road at night and giving the proceeds anonymously to the convent to rebuild the section destroyed by fire. Her father announced she had a suitor, Nicholas Forrester. She wanted nothing to do with him so she pulled some naughty pranks, earning her trips over Nicholas lap getting a sore, red bottom. Eventually she realizes she loves him and they get married. Several months after they get married, Keira convinced Gabrielle to rob one more time. Unfortunately it was Nicholas they tried to rob. When he realized that the girls were the robbers, he strapped both bottoms hard. They both promised to never rob anyone again.
The plot of this story was entertaining as two young women risk their own lives playing their highway robbery games. Even though they never keep anything, always donating it, it is still a hanging offense of a crime. Eventually, what to them is all fun and games find that their good fortune will run out, and what will it cost them? Many comical moments had me laughing out loud at the antics. Throw in some angst, attitude, the green-eyed monster, fighting women, some witty dialog and snide remarks and you have yourself a fun story with plenty of action, plus a dominant man who metes out plenty of well-deserved spankings to his naughty woman.
This was an entertaining read from start to finish with a witty dialogue and likable characters. I was glad to read the caning that Gabrielle received. She so deserved her comeuppance after she is so naughty despite the many spankings that Nicholas gives her to deter her wayward behaviour. 5 out of 5 !
This book contains a very entertaining story line about a very feisty lady and her strong dominant man. Although this book is not that long, the author is able to infuse personality plus into her two main characters and I found myself falling in love with both of them. At times the story line seemed very rushed, which is why I rated this book a 4 instead of a 5, but at all times, it kept my attention and I could not wait to see what was going to happen. I’m hoping that the author is going to also give us Keira’s story in the future as she seems to be just as feisty as Gabrielle and needs her own strong man who believes in spanking.
This is one of those books that makes you feel so many things when reading it!! I was nervous, scared, excited and found some of Gabrielle's antics absolutely hilarious!.I just love that! Gabrielle had me intrigued from the beginning with her daring: to go out with her friend Keira robbing people as highwaymen!! Yikes! I was actually nervous every time they went out!! Then there was Nicholas!! He was the very definition of Hot Alpha male!!Excellent story and just a blast to read!!! And I agree with the other reviewer...Keira needs a story next!!
Reminds me of The Taming of the Shrew, only the heroine does get her comeuppance. Gabrielle Baudry with her friend Kiera devise a plan to rob from the rich and give to the poor. In fact they turn into highwayman at night in order to hold-up stage coaches to relieve the occupants of their funds to give to the local nunnery. Along comes a possible suitor in the guise of Nicholas Forrester who has been invited to woo Gabrielle as a prospective bride. That's where all the shenanigans begin as their courtship takes on an up-and-down relationship amid a disciplinary male hand to behave.
This was a great book! I could not put it down! Nicholas has been invited to Gabrielle house in order to court her for marriage. Gabrielle and her friend Keira have a secret, they are highwaymen. They rob in order to give money to the church so it can be rebuilt. Gabrielle is very mischievous and is always doing things to upset Nicholas and he in turn is always spankings her for the things she does! This book was so good! I have read other books by Maryse Dawson and I always enjoy them. There were so many laugh out loud moments, spankings, mystery, surprises and action this book just kept you reading! The only thing I did not like was when Nicholas caned Gabrielle. 5 big stars and I hope she writes a book 2 for Keira!
