I enjoyed this story and all the many elements and characters woven throughout the pages. From a fairly independent young woman, Cathy Coleman, as independent as one can be with rich parents who still help out with some luxuries. Cathy’s mom, Marianne, is described as a snob even by her own husband, David, and that description fits her, along with manipulative, conniving, controlling and very determined. David is more laid back, but not weak; he has a good head for business and very successful. Scott Sampson is a man of many talents and a wise businessman. He knows not to mix business and pleasure, and he sure hasn’t placed all his eggs in one basket. Oh, he has noticed Cathy for the year she has been boarding her two horses, he knows she is a spoiled rich girl, she is very good with her horses, but she ls bratty too, and he has had enough and spanked her. What will happen now? Will she run to her Daddy for help? Why is her mother making threats against him to leave her daughter alone?
Lust, love, attraction and desire doesn’t see dollar signs. Cathy has secretly harbored feelings for Scott. When he spanks her for her carelessness how she handles it sets their relationship into motion. What happens when a Mother sets her eyes on a rich man for her daughter? What happens when that daughter has eyes for a cowboy? The plot of this story kept me captivated with a great cast of characters, lots of angst and emotions. Thunder clouds are bringing storms, and storms bring change, sometimes good, something not. This book may be part of a series but reads as a standalone. Warning, the story has one sexy cowboy that knows how to take charge and produce steamy erotic sex scenes with a very willing and appreciative woman.
I have read all of Maggie Carpenters books and whenever I see a new one I grab it. This one did not disappoint me. This one has everything I love, suspense, a manipulating woman, a sexy cowboy, a sweet young lady plus horses, spanking and romance. A wonderful read!
A suspenseful and sizzling read. Each chapter made me want to jump into the next. Cathy, the heroine of this story, isn’t the only one who meets her match. So does her manipulative, over-protective mother, who, ultimately does redeem herself. Scott is the dream cowboy, though he’s refreshingly human and has moments of self-doubt. Loved it. Definitely another I’m happy to add to my collection.
FANTASTIC BOOK! I've read all of these cowboy books by Maggie Carpenter, and this has to be one of the best. I thought I knew where the story was going, but twice I was wrong. Extremely good story, the characters were compelling, and the sex and spanking, just right. Absolutely loved it. If you haven't read this author's books yet, this is a great one to start with.
