I enjoyed this sci-fi story with some mystery and suspense. The character interaction of Captain Locke and Mrs. Ramen adds angst with secrets and hidden danger. Siri Ramen and her son Jacob are leaving their home after the murder of her husband, Abraham. Greed of her late husband’s family for what he had, and what should be her sons, has them escaping to another planet where hopefully she can start over. The restrictions on Protom for women are similar to the Victorian era in dress and behavior. The story has action and emotional suspense. There are threats of a spanking, and then one being carried out as punishment. This story has no sex but does discuss BDSM and various implements for punishment or pleasure.
This was a fun light read. I enjoyed the attraction and friction between Siri and Locke during their voyage and the story was entertaining. I could have read more.
When Siri's husband is murdered, she agrees to leave her inheritance in order to escape her planet with her infant son. She takes passage on a ship named Eternal owned by Armen Locke. Onboard ship she must learn to accept the rules of Locke or suffer the consequences. She also learns not to pre judge either Locke or his unusual crew. Can she learn to trust that not every man is going to take from her? Can she become strong enough to start life over for her and her son? This is a very good sci-fi ride with a little spanking.
This book followed Siri Ramen escape away from a very patriarchal planet Protom and their dangerous and unfortunate circumstances. She pays for passage aboard the Eternal where she meets a ragtag crew where she is a welcomed cook. They accept her into the fold and work together to get her and her son to their destination amid the potential for real and present danger. Mr. Locke was my favorite character because he was full of surprises. Just when you think you have all the information from him or he has nothing left to reveal another piece of the puzzle is added. I would recommend this for those that enjoy sci-fi or discipline fiction.
This book is set on a different world. Siri is trying to escape a patriarchal society after her husband is killed. She wants to protect their son, Jacob. Armen Locke agrees to take her on his ship and even negotiates to help her keep some money by having her be the cook. He is trying to help her escape, but Siri doesn't understand and keeps throwing a wrench into his plans. There is spanking in this story, and even a HEA. I give this 4 stars.
