This is the second book in a series but does stand alone. Essentially it is the story of Crump and Makenna but does involve the development of the other characters. The plot is fast paced and interesting. I did become confused at times with the flow of the story and had to revise what I had read to get back on track. I would allocate 3 ½ stars if I was able and I don’t want to disadvantage the author so have given this story 4 stars.
A great second for this series! The danger and the criminals keep the team on the move and on their toes as we delve deeper into Crump and Makenna's interest in each other. The sparks definitely fly with these two, since they have been "sparking" for them for some time now! This book is like the first one in that it has plenty of spankings and plenty of love for all our characters, but not detailed sex. Very well done and I'm looking forward to number 3!!
This is the second book in the series. This story is about Makenna and Crump. They are co-workers send are falling in love. Of course, Makenna does not always follow the rules and she gets her bottom spanked by Crump. There is a HEA. I give this 4 stars.
this book was even better in the first because the characters relationship only
gets stronger. This story like the first is about learning to trust and have faith in another's ability to help you be the best person you can be to grow.
3 ½ stars
This was the second book in the series. You can read it as a standalone. It was Crump and Makenna’s story. There is the danger, threats and take downs that you would expect with a PI operation.
This one was similar to the first book there is no real sexual scenes. There are a few implied
bedroom scenes after marriage. There are spankings that are mild with paddle and hand. The women
in this story are really hot tempered and outspoken. True the men are over protective, but the women
are more bratty and too aggressive for my liking. They put their life in danger when they act that way
and forget that they are professionals. It was a fun read and it was nice to see two more people
find love. It was a short read, but fun.
Calling the Shots is an enjoyable continuation of the action, romance and discipline of The Team. In this second book, the romance involves two team members we met in book one, Makenna and Crump. Sam and Tandy, the romantic focus of book one are an integral part of this story. I recommend reading book 1 first; since you can get it for $0.99, there's no reason to miss out on getting to know the characters. We learn more about the other team members in this book, mostly through the dialogue. The action part of the plot is simple, and the weakest aspect of the book, but it works given the nature of the team's business. I'm looking forward to the next one.
This was a little better than that first one I'd have given it a 3 3/4s star if the rating system allowed for it. The story left me asking several things. The main thing is SPOILER ALERT was about Joey whatever her last name was. What was she arrested for? Why risk your newly found freedom going after someone? Now I could understand it if she had escaped or was out on parole. It lacks sense. Also it could use clear breaks when time has passed. Often it was suddenly sometime later in the next sentence.
This is the second book in The Team series by Amity Maree and is a stand-alone story but does include a number of characters from the first book. Crump is grieving over the loss of his wife and child due to a revenge murder. But his feelings are coming back to life with regards his colleague Makenna, a trained assassin. The discovery and interaction of their feelings for each other is related against the background of the security firm they work for and the ever present threat of death from various ex-cons, thugs and mysteries that come out of the woodwork. They are ably helped by the rest of the security team which includes Sam and his wife Tandy characters that are introduced in Book 1. This makes the book very enjoyable when you meet the new couple who fall in love and old friends from the old book against the background of fighting crime. Good fun!
This is book two in The Team series and we see people from book 1 and meet some new ones. The Team is a group of former special ops military personnel who now are private working to find missing persons, act as bodyguards, etc. Two of their own, Makenna and Crump have feelings for each other but are keeping it under wraps and eventually admit to each other the truth. Many emotions, life-and-death circumstances, crazed women seeking revenge, some misunderstandings, and even new beginnings. This is a fast paced story, with lots of action, dominant men and feisty women who hold their own. The men aren’t afraid to take their ladies in hand, and when they make a threat, they carry it out with plenty of OTK corrections. There are no sex scenes; it is only implied. This is a series, but the book holds up well as a standalone.
