This story is written well, and is centered around Dan, an undercover FBI agent and his friend, Laura, who was later kidnapped and thrust into his undercover 'assignment' at a training farm involved in trafficking women by Marco, one of the 'bad guys'. It contains elements of non consensual BDSM and rape, hence its not for the faint of heart. However, the experiences while especially challenging for both of the story's protagonists, had also helped them discover themselves and to acknowledge their love and attraction for each other. There's character death involved. However, overall a very good read.

Dan and Laura are friends and have being in love for a long time. He is desperate to tell her about his feelings but he is an FBI agent working undercover to bring down a sex slave ring. One of the trainers decided to test him and kidnaps his friend Laura. Dan is forced to train her without any mercy in order to maintain his cover. Laura suffers a lot in his hands since the training is brutal. This is a dark story but well written and ends up with a happy ending.

This story fascinated me. As I read into the story and got to know the characters of Dan and Laura, I began to realize that Laura’s submissive nature actually made her a stronger person than Dom Dan. She took strength in her love of Dan and used it to not only survive a hellish prison of women who are to be sold into a life time of slavery, but also used it to aid Dan in his mission. The women’s training was beyond harsh, but felt realistic. The sad part for me is that the law enforcement behavior is deplorable and I’ve gather that’s realistic as well. This story is more difficult to get through, but well worth the effort. It’s dark but well done.

A dark side of submission and consent love story. Police Detective Dan Westbury is in deep undercover to solve and break up a slave trading ring kidnapping woman off the streets. He's a Dom and his talents lend himself to this investigative role perfectly. His long-time girlfriend Laura has been kidnapped by one of the sadistic 'Masters' and is put through the same training and sometimes painful humiliations in order to sell the girls as sex slaves in a private auction to the highest bidder-never to be seen in public again. Dan's role to infiltrate and apprehend over-shadows his Dom persona in training Laura as he tries to protect her yet do his job and capture the unknown Boss. Some parts of the book are disturbing but deeply erotic...good read!

I have just finished this wonderfully descriptive fabulous detailed book. I loved every minute of it. It is not a fluffy story but one about white slave traders. It could be true!! This is the first book I have read by this author but I plan to read more. I highly recommend it.

Oh my goodness how this book draws you in. Understand that this book contains not just dubious consent, but also acts committed completely without consent. Though a lot of it was hard to read, it is a good story. The heroine was torn with understanding the feelings and desires she learned about herself a long the way. But the important part is that the devil incarnate did not break her. In the end, the hero came through and it appears we got our happy ever after.

Very well written story. Very dark, more than I truly expected, but yet there was something about it that pulled me in. I'd love to believe that something like this could never happen in today's world, but the sad thing is that this more than likely is happening while you read this. I am looking forward to reading more by this author.

This is the first time reading something this dark, yet I couldn't not finish. The story was so well written that I actually cringed and had to take a small break. The "training" that takes place is degrading. However, the struggle that Dan and Lauren go through, trying to hold on to their sense of right and what consensual means... that's what kept drawing me back in. I can't wait to read more from this author!

I have so many feelings about this book, I'm not quite sure where to start!! First of all, like the other reviews have stated, this has a very dark story to tell. But, it is the story that is so dark and horrible, not our main characters! Both Laura and Dan find themselves in the middle of a modern day slave trading ring. Dan has been in it for quite some time as part of a sting operation and Laura is kidnapped and brought into it because she knows Dan, and someone on the inside wants to trip him up. Neither of them have ANY choice in what they have to do/endure in this hell they find themselves in!! As awful as the subject matter is, this author has managed to tell such an intriguing and heart-wrenchingly explosive story that I simply couldn't stop reading!! It was SO very, very worth the read!!!

Excellently written and captivating, this book explores the incredible emotional conflict of Dan, an agent Dom working undercover running a sex slave training operation, and his long time friend (would-be lover) Laura, who ends up a slave in his camp. Dan is torn apart, wanting to bring down the evil man who owns the enterprise, but hating the sacrifice of the unknowing, tortured women. It only gets worse for him when he is forced to torture the woman he loves. Laura finds herself in the middle of Dan's nightmare, but in a very different role. While she is forced to endure pain and humiliation beyond imagination, she learns that there is a part of her that likes Dan's control of her. She also has to keep the secret of their expected rescue from the other women as they lose themselves in the hopelessness of their situation. For the reader, the story is full of suspense, hope, fear, disgust, and sympathy. I would not classify it as horror, although for the female characters it certainly is. This is a top-notch dark erotic discipline novel. I highly recommend it for fans of the genre.

WOW! I agree with the reviewer who said this is true romance. True love born out of unrelenting fear filled darkness. There is nothing missing from this story. Length, depth, passion, pain, struggle, and kink all woven together.

Sink into the dark side. This is an amazing book. It is as addictive as it is heart stopping. Ms. Kisker takes you into this world where you are not sure if you want to stay and find out what happens next or escape. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, there really is not an option because you can’t stop reading. The twist and turns keep you wondering if there is any way possible there could be a happy ending. No worries the end is happy but it is all about the journey!

This is a well written story with emotions well expressed. Not sure I would call it a romance and what happens to the girls is awful but what makes the difference in this story is that Laura already loved and trusted Dan before her capture and Dan loved her as well. This makes a huge difference for Laura throughout her ordeal and enables her to feel desire as well as fear something which shocks and surprises her.

Dark, deception, dominant and a great read!

This book is along the lines of the dark books by Caroline Faulkner. Dan and Laura are good friends, but Laura doesn't know exactly who Dan is. Dan is actually an undercover cop for the FBI who is trying to break up a sex slave ring. Laura is kidnapped by one of the other men in the ring and is brought in as a sex slave to be trained and sold. The others know that Dan and Laura are friends, so Dan has to treat her as if she is nothing to him. He is extremely strict and even vicious with her. The punishments are very harsh and I was in tears many times. I found this a hard book to read, but I also was very intrigued by it. In the end, I'm glad I read it. I look forward to more books by this author. I give this book 4 stars.

I have not read anything by this author before but it will certainly not be my last. This is not a wine and roses romance but a true romance anyway. I am not going to summarize the plot or give any spoilers but this a book with true length, suspense, danger, adventure, and a ton of steam. Read the publisher's synopsis, buy, and hang on for a heart thumping ride. You really don't want to miss this one.

This is a brilliantly written dark erotic romantic suspense story with an element of horror. Human trafficking of women being held, trained, forced into submission to be sold to the highest bidder. Most of the women were loners, without close family or friends, so when they come up missing, not too much effort is placed on finding them. One woman, Laura Hurst, did not fit that profile but Marco knew that she and Dan Westbury were childhood friends, so she becomes a pawn in this evil event. The plot of this story kept me on the edge of my seat with all the mystery and suspense, depravity, danger, and secrets. The dialog is honest and raw, the characters will grab you and not let you go. There is so much depth to this story and it isn’t an easy journey to take, some will live and some will die, and life will go on. Warning, this story has forced BDSM, corporal punishments, enemas, oral and anal sex, piercings and branding, nonconsensual sexual acts in training women to be sexual slaves. In spite of all that, it does have a positive ending.

First of all, if you are offended or upset by non consensual slavery, heavy BDSM, whipping, spanking, do not buy this book. I found it totally mesmerizing and extremely well written and impossible to put down. It's very dark and intense and yet it is a romance with a Decent ending. A sweet young lady is kidnapped by the enemy of an undercover agent. The plot is so realistically told that it becomes believable especially as there is still an underground of slavery, women sold as sex slaves around the world to this day. This young lady is sent to a training farm to become a sex slave and eventually sold to the highest bidder. The training is brutal, degrading with whipping, rape and much more and all is non consensual. We all have a dark side which most of us keep inside but sometimes I find a dark story to be riveting especially when a gifted author uses their imagination and put it into a book. This is the case with this book. The author, Sophia Kisker, is a new author at Blushing Books and I am looking forward to reading more. (less)
