The third book in this fascinating mythical series of Fae Surrender and will read well as a standalone story. I found the elements of human, Fae, werewolves and vampires to blend well in this tale of good versus evil. When an older vampire is stalking a half-blooded Fae Brietta Larch, she cannot get anyone to take this threat seriously until peacekeeper Alejandro witnesses the vampire attacking Brietta and he comes to her rescue. The powers of this 300-year-old vampire have placed an illusion over everyone but Brietta and Alejandro. As these two are thrust into a battle of life and death, they also realize that they are each other’s mate. Journeying to the Old World where Alejandro will leave her while he battles the vampire, she submits to training for a true claiming. The plot kept me captivated with this fantasy tale of humans and mythical creatures. There is a great cast of characters and a suspenseful tale of how far love will take two mates. For a strong Brietta to learn true and total submission that she gladly gives because of love, and to accept the will of her mate but following his guidance and trust.
This third book in the series can be read as a standalone. It is as well written as the others. Very detailed with the Fae world vividly described. The characters are alive and vivid. There is a lot in this book. I highly recommend it.
For a world steeped in fantasy, the author creates an environment that makes you feel Brietta's dread and fear. Bryony writes you into her world and you feel the hopelessness and panic as everyone Brietta turns to, rejects her claims. You fear everything Brietta encounters, waiting for the boogeyman to jump out at her. When he finally does and Alejandro is there to save the day...well at least the moment.
Alejandro can see past the illusion the vampire has created and saves Brietta for the moment. Now they must figure out why no one will believe her. However, now they must figure out whether it was more than just chance that brought them together, or are they mates? To find the answers to all of this, they must return to their people, the Fae. They will get answers here, Brietta will be trained here and they will find out if they are truly meant to be together and whether Alejandro can survive defending her name.
This book had lots of erotic scenes, but it was also a really good story. It definitely had me turning the pages to find out what happened next and Alejandra and Brietta had such sizzling chemistry from the beginning. I truly enjoyed this story!
The Protector's Heart is part of a series, but can be read as a standalone book. I havae absolutely loved the previous two books in this series, and was really excited to see this book come out the other day. In this book we get to meet Brietta and Alejandro both of whom I instantly loved. Brietta is a Fae who can commune with the Earth, and we get to see her do a lot of this throught the book which was a really nice addition and really added to the story. We learn a lot about the different kinds of plants and how the fae use the Earth to lean and pratice harmony through thier connection. Alejandro the alpha male peacekeeper really suprised me in this book. Although he has the macho alpha cop thing going on that obviously still really works for him he was also really sweet, and gentle with Brietta when they first met. Even when they are forced to leave Earth and travel back Old World forcing a drastic change to the dynamic of their relationship Alejandro remained patient and gentle with Brietta throught the entire time. I loved how real Brietta was personified in a lot of books the heroine is either extremely dramatic to the point where it just becomes unrealisitc or they are pratcially perfect which qucikly becomes very boring early on in the story. In this book Brietta is a good girl who is trying to lead a fufilling life through her study of nature, but also has temper and is not the most patient of people and has to have Alejandro take her over his knee a few times throughout the book to help her when she becomes frustrated or upset due to the threat of the vampire and being in new enviroments. Overall I would highly reccomend this book it has a great suspenful story, tons of paranormal for those of us fanatics, and a great spanking relationship between Alejandor and Brietta. This book draws you in from the very beginning, and leaves you cheering for the coupe at the end and maybe wiping away a stray tear or two.
This is the third in this series and the best so far. It can be read as a stand alone which is great,It It is suspenseful read with an evil Vampire which is how the Mates meet. Love the new spin of the Fae and the setting in Chicago. Also love concept of fated Mates and finding beauty in submission.
Best Fae Surrender story yet; I'm so glad we get to see another side of magical Chicago beyond Lyonesse Academy. (Not that I don't enjoy the academy, but seeing how the Peacekeepers operate is very cool.) Brietta and Alejandro are a wonderful couple, and I appreciate that they seem to genuinely LIKE each other. The interlude in the Old World is dreamy and engrossing. I hope we get to go back in future Fae Surrender stories.
My only complaint is that I wanted more of the vampire! I could have used a few chapters going further into his backstory and ultimate schemes. He's super creepy so I can understand not wanting to overdo it and rob him of impact through overexposure, but I still wanted more. Fingers crossed that future Fae Surrender stories include more about the predators who live at the margins of fae society.
(ALSO THERE IS A TINY WINGED GREYHOUND A )
This story hooked me from page one and I read it straight through! What an interesting read with great characters. This is book three but stands completely alone. Wonderful book!
I really enjoyed this journey into the Fey homeland. Brietta is being stalked and no one will believe her. Only one protector, Alejandro, can see the vampire that is trying to get her.
This was a real story, with its ups and down, battles, and love scenes. There is MF and FF love scenes that are somewhat graphic. Brietta has found her mate and wants to do the ancient Fey ceremony to be claimed. I love the fact that the story was wrapped up at
the end, and all loose ends tied up. It had a happy ending with no cliffhanger. It was an enjoyable read.
