This is a short novella about a widow who disciplines her daughters the old fashion way. Mike Echols comes to rent an apartment from her. He has interrupted her disciplining Christine, her oldest daughter. He could clearly hear her being spanked with a hairbrush. Mike is invited eat dinner with them and he learns more about discipline and their household. It is evident to everyone that he is interested in Christine and Christine is interested in him, but he has to prove to her mother that he is able to discipline her before she allows him to court her. I enjoyed this and I give it four stars.
